Someone was mentioning the 12V Handbook in downloadable PDF format.

I’d been warned that the gray hose fittings from hardware stores are
ridiculously oversize but I didn’t realize that the nylon ones from
the marine store are also until after a lot of sweating and cussing.
Even after working the hose onto a heated (gently) pipe of the same
diameter to stretch it, getting the hose on the nylon nipples was at
the limit of feasibility.
Does anyone know the genesis or rational for this crazy situation? Why
can’t the nation the put a man on the moon produce hose fittings that
fit hose?

I am considering replacing a POS Raritan head with the Lavac Vacuum System.
Does anyone have any first hand experience with them?

Just goofing and I was looking at the Chesapeake bay on a google map. I see
the canal that connects the Chesapeake to the Delaware river.
Do sailboats use this waterway? Do the sailboats unstep their mast?
This is just a goof question
I treid to post this earlier but do not think that it worked. forgive
me if it double post. Does anyone use electric blankets on board? I
find that at home I only use it on the lowest settings and do not heat
the rooms. How are they with battery power? I have a battery size 27,
and a 1750 Watt inverter. Would I be able to use it all night? How
about with shore power? Thanks

Hello,
I am selling a very well equipped sailboat (Formosa 46) as it is at a
very low price of USD 35000 for quick sale due to major repairs needed
to the salon and deck through a reknown international broker in
Thailand, Lee Marine. A potential buyer has deposited the amount
equivalent to the commission of the broker but before I sign the
contract I am doubtful about the fact that the buyer has 4 weeks to
inspect the boat and that "the seller cannot enter into any other
agreement…while this agreement is in effect".
This seems to be very limiting and to work against me. I bear the risk
of loosing opportunities to sell the boat during the next 4 weeks when
this agreement expires. On the other hand, the potential buyer does
take no risk since he can withdraw at anytime and get back his deposit
at 100%. My experience with other brokers was that the buyer will
loose his deposit if he withdraws from the sale. The other way of
working around this would be to shorten the expiration of the agreement
to a week from now.
Thanks in advance for any clarifications,
Philippe
I just got some do-it-yourself plugs for my Garmin GPS. I need to run
a 12 foot cable without splices so I can thread it through some small
holes and difficult to access spaces. The longest premade cable you
can buy seems to be 8 feet.
I thought it would be a simple matter to find some black, four (or
more) conductor cable with stranded wire but it isn’t.
Does anyone know a source or type specification for the proper cable
to use?

I posted a query about finding a fabricator to make me a stainless
steel water tank the other day. I posted both here and in
rec.boats.building and have learned that the cost of the stainelss
steel would run the cost up to several thousand dollars. Can’t afford
stainless so I am looking for other suggestions. I can not use stock
tanks as it is for the port water tank on a Morgan OI 41. This tank
holds about 70 gallons and is made to fit upright against the port
hull. How about plastic? Can they be made to fit? Does plastic hold
up? Can they be made with baffles? The failed tank was made of
galvanized steel. Perhaps this is the route I should take?
Suggestions gratefully received?

A blue liquid logic lil joe was stolen from my backyard last week. The
boat has the "liquid logic" name on both sides and says "lil joe" on
the back. The boat is about 7’7" long and is in close to new
condition. Please pass the word along to fellow paddlers. Please feel
free to contact me if you have any questions. The serial number is EQK
